These make a nice alternative to traditional pizza.
Ingredients:
For Crust:
1 tbsp active dry yeast
1 cup warm water (105 to 115 degrees F)
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp canola oil
2 1/2 cups flour
For filling:
15 oz. Frigo Fat Free Ricotta Cheese
3 oz part skim mozzarella cheese, shredded
8 oz. Honeysuckle White Turkey Breakfast Sausage, crumbled and browned
1.5 cups Ragu Light No Sugar Added Tomato and Basil Pasta Sauce
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
To make crust:
Dissolve the yeast in the water. Add the rest of the ingredients in and mix. Dump onto a floured surface. Knead into a smooth dough (five minutes or so). Divide dough into six balls. Roll each out into a circle.
Filling:
Mix together cooked sausage, ricotta, and mozzarella cheese in a bowl. Divide filling in even portions and spread onto one half of each circle. Fold the dough over to form a half circle and pinch edge to seal tightly.
Place calzones on a greased baking sheet. Bake for 20 minutes or until crust is nicely browned. Serve with warmed pasta sauce for dipping.
